Sir, your store has GREAT prices, and I love all the custom made teams painted to order! I'll be ordering an Astro 77 pitch from you soon! Everywhere comparable that sells it, sells it for the same price in GBP (so around 75-80 dollars) and is around 50 dollars to ship. Lucky I found your channel and shop.
thank you sir!
@@subbuteoman No thank you! I printed the rulebook from your website, and with a few more watches of your 20 minute vid, I think I got all the nuances down! It's really a matter of just, learning how the rules of football translate to a tabletop game, but the entire ruleset is basically just football when it's starts to click.
I'm an American football fan that only just recently heard of this HUGE hobby, that doesn't seem to have much presence here. Got the UEFA starter kit, and plan on ordering an Astro pitch soon!
I’m sure there was a 4 touch play in the build up to the first goal? VAR VAR!
Love to see your still playing this game! I remember playing this with you in the Patapsco Middle school cafeteria
Nice…

Awesome!
Guy in yellow top foul flicking all over the place
I like the crown molding you used around the table. Very classy.
Uh… The goal Tillman scored 9:14 in…. was the shot not the 4th straight touch by that figure ?
no, third....
Great game, come on Paul the comeback kid!🚀🚀😊
Great half. Excellent goals
😮...1994: fistf and toccer figures!! I'm still playing French championships with toccer!
I got rev bases with Merlin figures made from him, top quality! There’s a good reason he is one of the top players in the US, and any hate towards 3D printing subbuteo is sadly because you dint think of it first. Yes, plastic goals are a cheaper alternative to 80$ extreme work goals that could turn off new players into getting into the game. I’ve been away from the game 15 years, and I’m glad to see advancements, cheers
Thanks for another interesting vid Paul. Just wondering what type or types of substances could be used for varnishing. I suppose the question is, what kind of varnish is inside that bottle?
Thanks. Testors Glosscote
These should be "pay per view"...just tremendous skil on both sides...
All time...how many times have you guys played? And who holds the most wins?
I agree with Subbuteoman...I thought it was a clean shot at :57
I made the call Matt! 🙂
terrible call of a foul at 0.57!
Naw, certainly close enough to have been reasonably called a foul. On film my guy might have barely stopped before the shot came in, but certainly wasn’t that obvious!
I was more annoyed by the throw in call at 3:22 😂 - I thought it was a corner in real time, but it was closer than I thought on replay
😞@@dancranflicks
Paul - your opponent was playing “crossbar challenge”.
DANG ! 1 minute left and you only had to keep possession from the corner…. 😟
😢
Thank you for sharing! A question about rules, shouldn't the "back" at 14:48 be called as free-kick since the ball was still moving?
good question Luca, no, because icontact was not directly with the figure that was active - a stationary figure.
@@subbuteoman Thank you!
Wicked counter-attack goal at the 3:50 mark !

WHat is this called?
Subbuteo style table soccer. The number one in person sports simulation game of all time.
Some brilliant shooting on display here, YEESH. Didn't realize that 4th shot went upper 90 NEAR post and in off the BACK post. Literally a perfect shot.
“The Eyes have it” ! 👍🏼 Well done. Let’s see the winning team (figures & bases).
Very interesting video. Just wondering how compatible Hasbro figures would be with other bases. I've got a set of figures but no bases and I'm wondering if I could use them with non-Hasbro bases.
Thanks SF. Yes! Hasbro figures are used frequently. No problem.
@@subbuteoman Thanks for the swift reply Paul. Just renewing a recreational interest in the game having played in the 70s. Actually had the World Cup 1970 edition with Brazil, Italy and England teams. Just picked up a Euro 96 box set second-hand but blue bases missing🥲. Very impressed by how well you and others in your videos play. Great vids and very instructive.
👍
Is it legal to hover your goalie in the air like that? Your custom goal box is allowing you to do so. Also the original game goalie bars are flat, so your technique would be much harder to implement. If this is all OK by rules, one could make goalie bar even wider/taller and goalie figure twice as large? Unfortunately Subbuteo website provides no answers and their rules are too abbreviated. My suggestion is no hovering, ball should be intercepted by goalie figure alone. Bar connecting to goalie should be as minimal as possible and touching the ground unless goalie is "jumping" - no hovering while anticipating a shot. I know this is now 15 years old video, but if anyone out there knows up to date resources or wants to discuss this, PM me. Cheers!
The offense breaks the quadrant rule so the defense takes possesion…but where do they get the ball? And is it their throw in or a free kick?
throw in, and they get it where the ball went out
Hy what figures an base is this ?
3dRev from Tablesoccerusa.shop
when you reposition for a goal kick are the defenders only allowed to reposition backwards or anywhere? thanks
Anywhere David.
Good luck with the event! It sounds like a lot of fun! Enjoy, gentlemen!
Useful!
Brings me back memories back in mid to late 80s-early 90s. This was the way of "gaming" back then before the era of game consoles. I must say this was brilliant back then. I used to had 200 teams, plus the fence, scoreboard, etc. Watching this video, i notice that the rules are almost the same like back then. There are some slight changes, but overall things haven't changed that much. Very nice video!!
Awesome….
Even in life, the queen would have made a terrible goalkeeper.
I beg to differ, those white gloves would come in handy, plus strategic use of her handbag at corners. I can see her being more than useful.
I like turnbased games, now I want to try this game out
It's 1 am... but don't regret it.
Man this was the game of ever!
nice match! Is Subbuteo big in the US? is it possible for a foreigner on holiday there to participate in a tournament?
Great video Paul!
nothing to do with title
I do not understand your comment?
the title says how to play goal keepers not types of goalkeepers
@@craigthompson8742 the "how to play " is a series. Many things Subbuteo, equipment and how to play. The link you want would be How to play : goalkeeping. As the title suggest this is about the act of goalkeeping itself.
If the player who takes a throw in ends up across the line on the pitch is that a foul throw?, thanks.
No. The figure has to start behind the line but can enter with the flick
I thought at least 1 defender needed to be in the defensive area in order for a forward to be offside, in your example none of the defenders are so there can be no offside....thanks though, sorry if i am wrong.
Thanks for interacting Paul. No need for a defensive figure to be in the last zone/quadrant for offside to take into effect
Yes I wanna learn so bad everything on it. Me and my girl love soccer and soccer games as well as she plays club and school soccer so it’s a cool way for us. We both are so competitive. Thank you for this awesome video.
so if attacking the ball cannot hit an opponent or they become the attackers. defenders can't flick and hit the ball. fair enough. but what if attacher flicks a player, the ball is moving, a defender flicks their player, they have stopped, but the ball then hits them - what happened then?
if a defender flicks and the figure is stationary after flicking - and the ball hits the defender - it is a change of possession. Key is the defensive figure must be stopped and the ball rolls onto it. If the defensive figure is moving and the ball hits it. It is a foul to offense, or offense can play on, their choice.
@@subbuteoman Thanks Paul
Great video!
What are the main differences between Talon bases, 3d Rev and G2 Raptor?
Talon, good to start playing modern game, good stability, and ability to chip when close to the ball. 3dRev very good shooting range and stability. G2 similar in those characteristics to 3dRev. I think 3dRev has better close control. Just my opinion.
